Justin Morgan Had a Horse is a story about a horses life and how that horse touches the lives of the people he met. This little horse lived in the mountain country of Vermont in the days when America was just beginning to be settled. He actually helped settle the country. He pulled logs to clear land. He helped build houses, bridges and carved roads through the wilderness. After a hard days work when other horse would have been sore ,he would take part in races and pulling bees. The willingness of this little horse even in his own lifetime became a legend. Today his descendents are known as the Morgan horse.
Marguerite Henry was eleven when she sold her first story to a womans magazine for twelve dollars. After she received her first check she realized that writing was a great way to earn living.
